Finding Fulfillment in Celebrating Little Successes Daily

What did you achieve today that surprised yourself?

What did you accomplish today that may have benefited another (perhaps without them even knowing)?

In what way(s) did you make progress towards your big-picture goal? (Make sure you have a clear idea of what that goal is first! Think BIG, but with clarity and specificity)

How do you plan to achieve more success or to continually make steps of progress tomorrow?

Often we all need a reminder to take a small period of time each day to mentally collect ourselves by drawing all our daily happenings together and to then take a step back before we can really see the big picture. I personally always fall victim to missing out on the process because I get so focused on the outcome that I forget to celebrate all the little achievements and points of learning made along the way.

Recently, I have been trying to make the conscientious point of effort to stop myself from all that happening - to allow for things to take collect, to reel back, and to engage in self-reflection in order to miss out on something so crucial to my well-being. Being so caught up in chasing after a long-drawn out goal can get exhausting and during times when things may seem like it may not be going anywhere close to where you imagined yourself to be - that's when you start dwelling only in the negative details. For some reason, at that very point, all you can re-account are just the points of frustration, disappointment and falling short, although you fully know there was more than that.

Yet the one solution to avoid all this from happening is simple - to make sure you are fully self-aware of that all the details happening around are indeed happening with reason. Nothing truly happens without reason - it's just at that very moment it may not yet be clear to us. I truly believe this as fact. Counting your blessings daily in this moment of self-reflection will go a long ways to providing you fulfillment in not only yourself, but how you may be affecting others around you.

For some this form of self-reflection is most effective when written down as that means the thoughts become solidified into reality, but I also know that journaling may not be for everyone. No pressure! Some people may also find this in meditation (which can itself come in many forms, such as yoga, jogging, hiking, etc.) or simply being at peace with themselves when they turn off all their different forms of social media and being intentional with seeking their inner self. Regardless of whatever mode you find yourself best adopting, asking yourself the four questions above in self-reflection will do wonders in not only making you become more self-aware of what is happening around you, but more importantly, how each event in your life fits itself together in your life. When you find yourself reaching patches of stagnancy, fret not - focus on the efforts to re-align yourself towards making small, yet practical steps towards the right direction. We may all fall off the path at times, but what is most important is coming to realization sooner and actually doing something about it.

Being an advocate on maximizing the potential of one's time since time is the one thing we can never have back regardless of how much we may have, reflecting and celebrating on the little daily successes that will eventually build up to a big achievement is what is necessary to healthy personal development and wellness. You may not initially find it trivial or think that these small successes aren't worth all too much, but trust me when I say small successes really do add up! Building on these small successes is what will ultimately carry you forward to achieving the big ones. Consider adopting this healthy habit today and let me know how that is going for you!
