On the Radar: J. Cole - 2014 Forest Hills Drive

Who else is excited for J. Cole's third studio album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, to drop in exactly a week's time??

For those who are just as eager as I, here's something to hold you over (that's if you didn't get invited to his exclusive album listening party at the Fayetteville, North Carolina home he grew up in). An ode to the street he grew up on, J. Cole brings us back to his younger days as he reminiscences about playing ball on the drive way, walking to his local rollerskating rink, and spitting verses to rap battle victory on the top row of his high school football "stomping grounds."

Brought to you by his label Dreamville Records, get the first look behind the scenes to J. Cole walking you the inspiration behind his newest album.

If you didn't watch everything, J. Cole speaks the truth starting at 4:53 in the video as he talks about how he wants to bring it all back to the small town feel.

Funneling his emotions from working, working and working all with the goal in mind to make it big in his career, he has come to realize that even with all the successes Hollywood may bring, it has all come at the sacrifice of the relationship he has with the family and people who are closest to him. Hoping to have caught himself before falling into the artificial happiness that J. Cole claims Hollywood, success and career may bring, he, at the age of 29, is now coming to realize that real happiness doesn't come from all that and wants to guide his focus on what is truly more important in life.

Here are some album track snippets to get you even more excited! This time around J. Cole really wants them Jordan numbers, LeBron footing; you can't guard him, Vince Lombardi, John Wooden. Maybe this time around, he'll be throwing fifty in club with Drizzy. Maybe this time around... Lights please.

With no features on the album and getting all of J. Cole on 13-tracks (so that you can't say you can't get enough, can't get enough), this is the released track list of the album:
