Product Design by Studio Ayaskan

There is a sense of beauty in well thought out and executed product design - Studio Ayaskan definitely exemplifies this. Two twin designers (how cool is that?!) based out of London by the names of Bike and Begum Ayaskan are the great minds and hands behind these beautifully created products. Take a look below to see their latest creative ventures!

The Sand Clock

Time and space within a continuum is often perceived as a fourth dimension. Therefore, with that in mind, the Ayaskan duo aims to capture the precious nature of time through the form of ripples of sand. In contrast to the vertical-standing hourglass that attempts to show the dwindling loss of time under a fixed amount of sand trapped in a vial, this sand clock represents a smooth circular rotation of time - much like the continuum reflected initially.

 Apple Branching Lighting

Fruits hanging from trees represent the purity of nature. Drawing from the musings of the natural processes, the designers combine the irregular structure of a tree to form a piece of lighting that adequate branches off with its lights effortless hanging down in the form of apples. I personally appreciate decor pieces that can also serve the purpose of an interesting art piece - that's the beauty of functional product design! Perhaps if Newton was able to come across a moment of inspiration from the apple falling, this lighting piece will too illuminate you physically as well as mentally (minus the part where it falls)?

Geometric Ceramic Plant Pots

With the essence of capturing the abstract process of growth within a physical vessel, the Ayaskan duo uses an origami-based geometry design to create white ceramic plant pots to house plants from the life cycle of a seedling to its full-grown form. Aren't these just the perfect pots to plant your next miniature tree?

Kinetic Oil Lamps

Based off the project "Luminous Feast," the designers drew inspiration from the Latin root word lumen meaning light to create a novel interpretation of how light can be displayed to project a playful interplay of light versus shadow effects in an adaptable manner. By handcrafting each of the individual tea glass lights and arranging them in a circular arrangement via cog wheel connectors, the modules allow the user to adjust for not only height but also diameter. This functionally allows for maximal versatility in the sense that it can be fitted on any dinner table or room, without having to jeopardize its decorative aspect.
