The Future Can Be Found in Our Past

"Time is always moving into the future, but the techniques and styles of the future are always
rooted as an inspiration of the past. A contrast in the axis of time.

The adidas Superstar was the first ever sneaker silhouette I fell in love with. The three stripes on the side, exposed white stitching at the mid-sole and iconic hard-cap toe are all what makes this sneaker so beautifully designed. I still remember the days I religiously cleaned my pair of Superstars after every wear just to prolong keeping this sneaker as white as possible. With each time I sat down to clean them, I remember appreciating the details of this sneaker that much more.

To see this sneaker being back on trend again (looking at all you #fashion tumblr peeps looking to buy a pair of these) really makes me see how style and fashion recycles itself in a quick 10-year time span. Silhouettes of today can be fast forgotten and replaced with the next hottest item, yet what people fail to recognize when they throw out all their pieces to welcome the latest on-trend collection, is that the classic silhouettes and well-designed products are bound to be back in a couple of years.

Those silhouettes are what makers call "timeless fashion."  Hard to come by, let alone for designers to create (that's the ultimate goal!), but when you come across them, you sure as hell know they are classics meant to stay.
